From the city to Montauk Point, you can be sure that New Yorkers will be celebrating America’s birthday with a bang. Since July 4th falls on a Saturday this year, you’ll be able to stay up late watching the sky explode with brilliant fireworks! Ollie’s Taxi has compiled a list of the best New York 4th of July fireworks for you to gaze upon with your friends and family as you commemorate independence the American way.

Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show

Perhaps the most well-known New York 4th of July fireworks show, the Macy’s display will ignite the sky above Manhattan’s East River from between 23rd and 37th streets and the Brooklyn Bridge. Beginning at 9:20 p.m., the show will feature over 50,000 firework shells in 22 different colors throughout a 25-minute spectacle of synchronized pyrotechnics. Prime vantage points for the Macy’s show include Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and FDR Drive in Manhattan. There are also several fireworks cruises that depart from Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx that will provide you with wonderful views of the show if you’re willing to spend a little extra money.

Jones Beach Fireworks Spectacular

A classic when it comes to New York 4th of July fireworks, the Jones Beach Fireworks Spectacular will be back to illuminate the ocean this 4th of July for the first time since 2009. The show will begin at 9:30 p.m. and will feature patriotic music from two Long Island radio stations, WALK 97.5 FM and WHLI 1100 AM. There is no extra charge to view the fireworks, so get to Jones Beach early and enjoy the sand and surf before the sun goes down and the show begins!

Go 4th on the Bay

If you don’t want to hang out on the beach to watch the Jones Beach Fireworks Spectacular, watch it from a boat instead. There will be 20 boats departing from Captree State Park between 6:30 and 7 p.m. on a scenic cruise to Jones Beach, where they’ll anchor to watch the dazzling fireworks show. The night will culminate with another slow voyage back to Captree State Park.

Long Island Ducks Pyrotecnico Extravaganza

What could be more American than celebrating the 4th of July with baseball and fireworks? There will be Pyrotecnico fireworks shows when the Long Island Ducks take on the Lancaster Barnstormers on July 2nd and also when they face the Somerset Patriots on July 3rd and 4th. Enjoy America’s game and maybe some peanuts and Cracker Jacks as the sky lights up over Bethpage Ballpark.

Stars over Montauk

It’s not every year that the 4th of July falls on a Saturday, so turn this year’s Independence Day into a weekend-long celebration in the beautiful beach town of Montauk! The Stars over Montauk show will be a 45-minute display beginning at 9:00 p.m. over Umbrella Beach. The spectacle will be easily visible from any Montauk town beach. Weekends filled with bonfires, friends, freedom and fireworks are what America is all about!
