This weekend marks the kickoff of the Long Island Fall Festival season! There are a whole ton of Fall festivals and fairs coming up in the next few weeks, but this weekend is chock-full of family fun! We were planning on putting together an exhaustive list of Long Island Fairs and Festivals for the Fall, but we realized that there’s so much going on this weekend that we might risk the details for all the other events getting lost in the excitement. So here’s a list of all the Long Island Festivals this weekend, and check back with us next week for details on all the other Fall festivals and fairs on Long Island!
Long Island Festivals This Weekend
East Meadow Fire Department Fall Festival
September 26-27 – Friday: 5-11PM; Saturday: 10AM-11PM.
Corner of Carman Avenue and Salisbury Park Drive, House #4, East Meadow.
There’ll be a free concert each night, as well as a ton of fun activities.
Greek Festival on the Harbor
September 26-28 – 12PM-10PM.
North Hempstead Beach Park, 175 West Shore Road, Port Washington.
Long Island’s largest Green festival! Enjoy authentic Greek food and pastries, along with live Greek music and traditional Greek dancing! There’ll be games and rides, as well as a marketplace with vendors selling all sorts of cool goods.
Long Beach Irish Day 2014
September 27 – All Day.
Long Beach Irish Day is a tremendous event that takes place every year in Long Beach’s West End. Saturday’s parade will run along West Beach Street between Grand Boulevard and Nevada Avenue. There will be no parking on West Beach Street all day (a great reason to have your friends at Ollie’s Taxi give you a lift! Call us at (516) 437-0505 for a ride!). People start showing up for Irish Day around 10AM, usually, but the parade doesn’t start until about 12PM. The day continues with live Irish music, delicious Irish food, and events throughout the West End all day long.
Long Island Chestnut Festival
September 27 – 1-5PM.
Baldwin Historical Society, 1980 Grand Avenue, Baldwin.
Join local nature lovers in celebrating the reintroduction of the American Chestnut Tree to the Eastern US! There are arts & crafts and games for all ages, as well as a scavenger hunt, nature walk, and loads of educational demos!
Fall Fair 2014
September 27 – 9AM-5PM.
St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Parish Grounds, 1000 Washington Avenue, Plainview.
Take in the beauty of the church grounds while you enjoy food and fun for all ages. Explore the marketplace full of vendors, crafters, and artists, and get in on the raffle to win exciting prizes.
Fall Country Fair
September 27 – 10AM-5PM.
Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society, 336 Port Washington Road, Port Washington.
This is a truly historical experience! Explore the Sands Family property on the Cow Neck Peninsula for an old-school Country Fair!
Family Arts Festival
September 27 – 10AM-4PM.
Museum Row, Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, Garden City.
We’re kicking off Arts Month on Museum Row with a parade, food trucks, live performances, a kids’ scavenger hunt, and buckets of fun!
Valley Stream Community Fest
September 27 – 10AM-5PM.
Roackaway Avenue from East Merrick Road to Sunrise Highway, Valley Stream.
This is a full day of fun to highlight and celebrate the community culture of Valley Stream. There’ll be a wide array of food to eat, music to dance to, and artisanal goods to peruse and purchase. Cut the kids loose in the huge kids entertainment area, browse the classic car show, and enjoy the countless other activities the Community Fest has in store for you!
AAA Family Block Party
September 27 – 10AM-5PM.
AAA Headquarters, 1415 Kellum Place, Garden City.
There’ll be bouncy houses, face painting, a pumpkin patch, photo booth, magic show, petting zoo, kids crafts, interactive DJ, food trucks, craft vendors, and more! I’m exhausted after typing out that crazy list—this is certainly an event that is guaranteed to be an absolute blast!
Long Island Fair
September 27-28 – 10AM-5PM.
Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage.
Admission: Adults $12; Children 5-12 and Seniors $8; Children under 5 FREE!
Specials: Sat/Sun 10AM-12PM - $7 each for everyone.
The Long Island Fair has a replica of the 1866 Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall to show off prize-winning vegetables, flowers, and crafts. If you’re an animal lover, the LI Fair is for you, because there are tons of farm animals, pony, camel, and horse-drawn wagon rides, a petting zoo, and a reptile show! For our history buffs, there are a number of historical demonstrations, old fashioned baseball games, Civil War reenactments, and much, much more!
Craft & Fine Arts Fair
September 27-28 – 11AM-6PM.
Nassau County Museum of Art, 1 Museum Drive, Roslyn Harbor.
Admission: $8; Children 12 & under FREE. Does not include museum admission.
Spend the day on the museum grounds for all sorts of family fun, fine art, and fabulous crafts! Some of the neat artisanal goods you’ll be able to see and buy include: functional and decorative pottery, molded and dyed leather, precious and nontraditional jewelry, blow and stained glass, and much more!
Festival by the Sea
September 27-28 – 11AM-6:30PM.
630 Lido Boulevard, Lido Beach.
There’s a clam-eating and rib-eating contest…need we say more? Alright, what about giant inflatables, children’s shows, circus acts, pony rides, sand sculptures, give-aways, and tons more? The Festival by the Sea is an event that no one should want to miss!
Garden City South Street Fair
September 28 – 10AM-5PM.
263 Nassau Boulevard, Garden City.
Celebrate and support local business at the annual Garden City South Street Fair! Vendors, crafters, and other artisans will be selling all their handiwork, as well as specialty food providers offering a selection of tasty treats.
Village Day Festival
September 28 – 12PM-5PM. (Rain Date: October 5)
Sands Point Preserve, 127 Middle Neck Road, Sands Point.
Enjoy the fall foliage from a cozy spot on a hayride around the Great Lawn. There’s a petting zoo full of fun animals—sheep, llama, frizzle chickens, crested ducks, and a herd of ponies—and if you didn’t get enough of the ponies at the petting zoo, there are pony rides, too! While you’re there, don’t forget to let your inner-artist free and paint a pumpkin!
Syosset Street Fair
September 28 – 10AM-6PM.
15 Jackson Avenue, Syosset.
A street fair of epic proportions—come to Syosset to peruse rows of local artisanal goods and chat with the Long Islanders who crafted them!
