World Ice Arena
World Ice Arena, located in Flushing Meadow Corona Park in Queens, is an ideal ice skating rink for both beginners and experts alike. Even if you don’t have much experience on the ice, they offer skating school, weekly classes and private lessons for every level.
For more advanced skaters, World Ice Arena hosts many different youth and adult programs for figure skating and hockey. However, for those who are just looking to glide around with family and friends just for fun, there are public skating hours every day of the week. Don’t have skates? Don’t sweat it—rentals are only $6.
You’re likely to work up an appetite out there, so feel free to stop by the rink side café for satisfying menu items like burgers, pizza, sandwiches and salads. Last but not least, if your child’s birthday is coming up, consider having it at World Ice Arena, a local party hotspot!
The Rink at Rockefeller Center
The Rink at Rockefeller Center is a winter tradition that absolutely every New Yorker must experience at least once! In addition to being the most popular, iconic New York ice skating rink, it’s located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, just steps away from Times Square and the historic Theater District.
Through April 15, 2018, there will be general admission for daily open session hours, which can be found here. General admission is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. It costs $25 for adults and $15 for children under 11 and seniors. You’re welcome to bring your own skates or rent a pair for $12.
There are also plenty of reservation packages that include add-ons like dinner and a show. You can find out all about them here. Lastly, if you’re still in the process of learning how to skate, the Rink at Rockefeller Plaza offers private lessons daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm for $50.
Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink
The Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink in Great Neck boasts a full-size indoor ice skating rink where everyone is welcome, so lace up your skates and head on over! It doesn’t matter what your skill level is, since this rink has a wide variety of programs like:
- Skate School
- Travel Hockey
- Intramural Hockey
- Competitive Figure Skating
Of course, they also have daily public ice sessions, in addition to skating, where you can relax and enjoy a roaring fireplace, ample seating, snack bar and free Wi-Fi. However, the times vary, so make sure you stay up-to-date with their schedule.
