What is the NYC Halloween Parade?

The NYC Halloween Parade is an annual holiday extravaganza that typically draws over 50,000 costumed participants and two million spectators. It’s best to think of it as a vibrant, costumed carnival that brings together the best of New York.

If you’re in costume, you are welcomed to join hundreds of puppets, 35 different bands, dancers, artists and thousands of other jolly costumed New Yorkers. Besides, who wouldn’t want to participate in the nation’s most creative public event, in the heart of the world’s greatest city?

2018 Festivities

This year’s festivities will start on Wednesday, October 31 at 7 p.m. sharp. Every year, the parade has a special theme. This year’s is titled “I AM a Robot,” a celebration of everything robotic. The 2018 Grand Marshall is Machine Dazzle, a NYC-based costume designer and visual artist.

Joining the Parade

If you’re looking to join the costume procession, you can enter the parade on Sixth Avenue at Canal Street between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

For $25, you can also join a special section of the parade as part of a presentation involving this year’s theme and Grand Marshall. However, to join this area, your costume must be robot or android-related. This advance ticket buys you secret entry point access and a special DJ performance. You can register to participate here.

The After-Party

Wherever you join the parade along the way, it will end two to three hours later at 16th Street. However, there will be an official after-party at The Mascureaids Ball, with all proceeds going to the fight against AIDs and HIV.

For the price of admission, you can enjoy an open bar, amazing DJ sets and an entry in their $5,000 costume contest. Click here to view their ticket packages.
