There are plenty of places to check out if you’re looking to explore Long Island. From the North Shore to the South Shore, from Nassau County to Montauk Point, Long Island is full of fun activities for all times of year.
The pool in your backyard is a great place to hang out this summer, but it would be even better to pick a weekend and spend it in one of many Long Island vacation spots. Whether you’re coming from far away or live on the island, there’s always something more to be discovered. You’ll never be far from a body of water to cool off with on those hot days. Enjoy the abundance of seafood caught fresh and indulge in Long Island grown wine and craft beer. You’ll find everything you need for the perfect summer right here on Long Island.
Summertime is the clear choice for many family vacations because schools are out and our schedules become a bit less regulated. However, due to weather conditions and other factors, summertime isn’t necessarily the best time for people to take trips to some of our national parks. Here’s a list of five of the best national parks to visit during your summer vacation!
Starting from North to South, we’re going to start with Seattle, WA! Although we usually think of nothing but rain when we think of Seattle, it turns out they actually get less annual rainfall than New York! The reason that summer is the best time to head out to Seattle is that they have gray skies and drizzle pretty much every day from October to May (the rainy reputation had to come from somewhere, after all!). But if you vacation there now, you’re likely to have nothing but fabulous weather (typically mid-70s). If you’re into music festivals, Seattle is home to many. Bumbershoot will be held at the Seattle Center this year from August 30-September 1, featuring a wide variety of music artists that span a whole slew of genres. There’ll be 100 bands playing at the Capitol Hill Block Party from July 25 to 27. You can see a full list of music events and festivals in Seattle here!
