Local Cinco de Mayo Events that You Don’t Want to Miss

This year, Cinco de Mayo falls on a Sunday, so you can expect plenty of Mexican grub and margaritas all weekend long. Fortunately, you will have many different places to celebrate, as bars and restaurants across Long Island will be hosting fun and exciting Cinco de Mayo events. So, if you’re looking for some of the best ones to visit, here are a few that are on the horizon.

Festive Cinco de Mayo Events on Long Island


On Sunday, May 5, Kpacho in New Hyde Park will be the area’s premier destination for Cinco de Mayo festivities. Starting at 11 a.m., the fiesta will kick off with a boozy brunch party featuring DJ Petey Beatz on the 1s and 2s.

Later in the evening, there will be two full floors of partying and two DJs, DJ Zues from One Sound and DJ B.Price, spinning today’s top hits with live percussionists. All day, you can also enjoy $6 shots, brunch specials, giveaways and so much more excitement.

If you’re looking to sip killer margaritas and snack on as many tacos as your heart desires, Kpacho is the Cinco de Mayo event for you!



Kick off Cinco de Mayo weekend at the West End Tequila Festival at Long Beach’s Minnesota’s on Saturday, May 4. With the price of admission, guests can enjoy unlimited tacos and over 24 exclusive tequila tastings.

Tocolo Cantina

Why not celebrate May 5 at one of the best Mexican restaurants in Garden City, Tocolo Cantina? Located inside The Gallery at Westbury Plaza, they will be hosting Cinco de Mayo activities all day long.

After lunch, there will be a big tequila tasting, presented by Jose Cuervo Tradicional, from 4 to 6 p.m. But that’s not all—they will also have a live DJ, giveaways throughout the day and plenty of delicious Mexican food, such as:

  • Shrimp Ceviche
  • Cochinita Tacos
  • Braised Short Rib
  • Chicken Tinga Enchiladas
