Fourth of July parties

Nothing yells summer like kids trying to catch fireflies and friends having barbecues, people escaping to the beach to lay out in the sun or taking a dip in the pool. The highlight of summer is always July 4th, America’s Independence Day. A day on which the entire nation comes together to celebrate one thing, freedom. Check out these fun events on Long Island for a new way to celebrate and see the best Fourth of July fireworks.

Best Fourth of July Fireworks Guide

Here are places on Long Island that you can escape to and enjoy a firework show:

1. Jones Beach

Hosted by Sterling National Bank at the Central Mall Beachfront, Jones Beach not only has 30 minutes of a fireworks show, but also some patriotic music.

These festivities start at 9:30 p.m. with a $10 vehicle fee if arrived before 4p.m. and $10 event fee if arrived from 4p.m.- 9p.m. Make sure to bring lounge chairs and blankets for the beach.

2. Glen Cove

Not only is there a Fourth of July fireworks display, but in Glen Cove you will have an entire day filled with fun celebrations.

At 10a.m. there will be a Classic Child’s Bike Ride. Starting from Robert M Finley Middle School, you can bring bikes and scooters and parade through downtown Glen Cove. At 7:30p.m. the Northwinds Symphonic Band will perform at Morgan Memorial Park. And finally, at 9:15p.m. the Grucci Fireworks display will burst to end the day of fun.

3. Freeport

If you’re looking to see some Fourth of July fireworks from the water, you’re in luck! The Sapphire Princess Jones Beach Fireworks Show Dinner Cruise is exactly what you’ll be looking for.

The cruise's location is the end of the Nautical Mile, 11 Richmond Street, Freeport. The boat departs at 8 p.m. and cruises for 3 hours on July 4. Ticket price depends on the age of the passenger. They range from $90- $130 (ages 3 and younger are free) yet the memories made will be priceless.

While the Fourth of July is a day to celebrate, it’s also one of the biggest drinking holidays of the year. More people buy beer on July 4th than any other day throughout year, including St. Patrick’s Day and New Year’s Eve. Be careful, take precaution and preorder a taxi from Ollie’s Taxi and Airport Service. Not worrying about how to get home after celebrating will ease your mind and allow you to enjoy your night even more.
