Long Island City Restaurants

The influence of Manhattan’s food scene has begun spreading to surrounding boroughs. For instance, in Long Island City in Queens, you can find plenty of hip and delicious bistros, guaranteed to satisfy even your wildest cravings. Without further ado, here are three of the top Long Island City restaurants that you would be silly not to visit!

Exploring the Finest Long Island City Restaurants

Mu Ramen

Queens is home to a wide array of different cultures from around the world. Long Island City, in particular, has an extremely prevalent East Asian community, as evidenced by the seemingly countless number of related eateries. One that immediately comes to mind is the new-age, noodle paradise, Mu Ramen.

What to Expect

Since their noodles are meant to be eaten right off the stove, they do not offer any take-out, delivery or left-overs, so you must dine-in. They only have 22 seats available on a first come, first served basis, but it’s totally worth it. You’ll be able to try delicious ramen flavors, such as:

  • Mu Ramen: oxtail and bone marrow-based soup loaded with brisket, half-sour pickle, menma, cabbage and scallions
  • Spicy Miso: red miso and pork-based soup topped with scallion, chopped pork, menma, corn, sesame and chili oil

Mu Ramen also has tons of tasty small dishes like shishito peppers, Tebaski gyoza and katsu that will accompany your main meal nicely. Enjoy their wide variety of Japanese craft beers, sake and wine, as well as a BYOB policy with a $50 corkage fee.

Long Island City Restaurants

John Brown Smokehouse

If you’re looking for an out-of-this-world dining experience at an old-school barbeque joint, John Brown Smokehouse is the place to go. Located in the heart of Long Island City on 44th Drive, John Brown’s has home-style décor, a tasty menu and a rotating selection of beer, wine and spirits that are well-worth the visit.

The Fare

This counter-style barbeque joint has tons of meats that fit perfectly on sandwiches, but are just as tasty on their own. Some of the top choices include:

  • Ribs
  • Chicken
  • Pulled Pork/Pork Belly
  • Brisket
  • Smoked Turkey
  • Burnt Ends

Just make sure that you round out your meal with some of their mouthwatering sides, such as cole slaw, cornbread, collard greens, baked beans and even mac and cheese. Don’t forget to wash it all down with one of their many craft beer selections.

Long Island City Restaurants

Casa Enrique

The last eatery to crack the list of the best Long Island City restaurants is none other than the popular Mexican bistro, Casa Enrique. This Michelin-rated eatery specializes in cuisines from the Mexican region of Cintalapa, Chiapas.

When you first enter, the space may seem modern and contemporary, but it has an authentically quaint ambiance, enhanced by their homemade menu. You can enjoy incredible house specialties, like:

  • Ceviche de Pescado (market fish cooked in lime, onion, avocado and tomato)
  • Lengua (cow tongue) Tacos
  • Pozole De Mi Tia (Hominy pork soup with oregano, radish, onion, lettuce and avocado)
  • Carne Asada Enchiladas

If you can’t make it for dinner, Casa Enrique is an ideal spot for lunch, brunch, dessert and even casual drinks with friends!
