Although its origins lie in a 200-year old Bavarian wedding, Munich’s Oktoberfest is an annual 16- to 18-day festival running from mid to late September to the first Sunday in October. The event is usually full of beer, lederhosen and tons of delicious German cuisine. However, if you understandably can’t make it to the real one in Germany, NYC’s Oktoberfest 2019 is your next best bet, so get your lederhosen ready!
What to Expect at Oktoberfest 2019 in New York City
Although this traditional autumnal festival is celebrated widely across the United States, NYC’s Oktoberfest is arguably the biggest of them all.
Throughout the next five weekends, visitors will come from all over to experience authentic German beer and cuisine, as well as live music and fun games, like the epic stein holding contest. If you want to go for complete authenticity, you may even consider dressing in some traditional Bavarian attire. In fact, it’s encouraged!
The entire festival goes down at the 3,500-square-foot Watermark Waterfront Bar at Pier 15 on 78 South Street, which features sweeping views of the Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges and the famous Brooklyn skyline.
