New York City is the capital of the world and home to many world-class sports teams and events. New Yorkers are also some of the best fans in the entire world. Almost every game or event in the tri-state area is sold out to capacity. With as big of a market as we are in, players and athletes regularly decide to join New York teams, giving us fans a truly memorable sporting experience. If you’re looking for the next big game to check out in our area, look no further than these New York sports events.

New York Sports for You to Check Out

The Barclays

A step below the four major golf tournaments, The Barclays is a PGA Tour event that will take place at Bethpage State Park’s Black Course from Thursday August 25th to Sunday August 28th. The best golfers in the game, from all over the world, will descend on Farmingdale to try to win the coveted prize. The reigning champion and #1 ranked golfer, Jason Day, will be on hand to defend his title. Tickets can be found here.

One of the biggest pay-per-views of the entire WWE calendar, SummerSlam, is back in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for the second year in a row. On August 21st, feuds will be settled and begun as the newly realigned WWE rosters go to battle. Coming off of last year’s historic defeat of Brock Lesnar by The Undertaker, this year’s event is shaping up to be a good one. You can find tickets here.

US Open

The last of the four tournaments that make up the Grand Slam, the US Open, will take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens. Beginning with the Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day on August 27th, the event goes all the way up until September 11th and ends immediately following the final Mens’ Singles match. Tickets can be purchased here.

New York Baseball

The Mets, coming off their unprecedented World Series run, and the Yankees are currently in the midst of competitive seasons where neither is currently at the top of their division. Yet, they’re still battling for Wild Card spots. Just like the weather, baseball is heating up in New York with the playoffs right around the corner in October. Come out to the ballpark and see these teams contend for a World Series berth. Tickets for the Mets can be found here and, for the Yankees, here.

New York Football

The Giants and Jets are both returning from unsuccessful seasons where neither franchise made the playoffs. This season, following complete revamps of the roster, the Giants and Jets are back in action to make up for the shortcomings of last year. Be sure to head over to MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands of New Jersey to see these new rosters play together for the first time in this preseason.

The Giants have a home game against the Miami Dolphins on Friday, August 12th. The Jets have a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, August 11th. But the biggest event of the preseason happens on Saturday, August 27th when the Giants play the Jets for New York bragging rights. Jets tickets can be found here and Giants tickets can be found here.
