Around the holidays in December is without a doubt the busiest, most hectic time to travel all year. With everyone rushing around to spend these special days with loved ones, traveling can sometimes be tricky. Plan Ahead

If you know that you’re going to be traveling for the holidays, it’s a good idea to start shopping around and doing your research well in advance. Airfare isn’t cheap, so when you start early there’s a better chance of scoring great deals. You should compare fares from different sites to ensure you’re getting the best value. Early morning and late night flights are typically the cheapest.

Also, because so many people travel during this time, flights book quickly. By planning your trip ahead of time, you can guarantee yourself a seat. This will save you some undue stress and likely a whole lot of money too.

Smart Packing

If you have a scale at home, weigh yourself and then weigh yourself again holding your luggage. That’ll prevent any surprise fees when you get to the check-in counter.

Be Prepared

Before you even start packing, make a list of everything you’ll need, including clothes, toiletries and other necessary items. Check off everything as you go.

You should also make a checklist for the day of travel so that you have everything ready. The last thing you want is to get to the airport and realize you forgot your tickets or wallet!

The Day of

It’s also a good idea to plan your ride to the airport to arrive several hours before your flight takes off. Airports are always insanely busy during the holidays.

By arriving early, you will leave yourself ample time to navigate the crowd, go through security and get to your gate.

Also, routinely check your flight’s information on the day you’re traveling. It’s not uncommon for flights to be delayed or canceled, so just make sure you stay updated.
