Fun Things to Do in Brooklyn
Food and Drink
Di Fara Pizza
If you’re looking for arguably the best pizza in New York, take a trip over to Di Fara. You may be turned off from this place when you hear about the two-hour waits and steep cost of pizza ($5 per slice), but we believe it’s well worth the wait and price. Every pie is handmade by one man, pizza legend Dom DeMarco, who has been making pizza for over 50 years. Needless to say, after the countless pizzas he has made, the ingredients of each pie are calculated to perfection. The incredible pizza will leave you speechless, which makes waiting in line at Di Fara one of the most rewarding things to do in Brooklyn.
The River Café
The River Café is located right on Water Street in Dumbo. With an excellent view of Manhattan right outside the window and incredible food on your plate, the River Café does not disappoint. The menu is full of mouthwatering foods, making it difficult to choose just one item. Luckily, you can order the six course chef’s tasting menu, or ask the very attentive staff members for a recommendation if you can’t decide. We’re fans of the vast seafood selection, which ranges from Scottish salmon to octopus to lobster!
Located on Court Street, Buttermilk Channel is your go-to spot for traditional American foods. Best known for their fried chicken and cheddar waffles, Buttermilk Channel also offers fresh fish and a separate vegetarian menu which includes vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free foods. Everyone who dines at Buttermilk Channel is sure to find something on the menu to suit their tastes.
Parks and Sight-Seeing
The Brooklyn Bridge is famous all over the United States for a reason. There are plenty of areas in Brooklyn from which you can get breathtaking views of this historical bridge. The Brooklyn Heights Promenade offers a spectacular view not only of the Brooklyn Bridge, but of Manhattan, too. Just a short walk away from the promenade is the pedestrians’ entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge, from which you can walk over the bridge and into Manhattan.
Prospect Park is the largest park in Brooklyn with 585 acres of space. Within this massive park is a zoo, a forest, a lake, baseball fields and more. The spectacular scenic views located within the park will compel you to break out your cell phone and start snapping pictures. Food carts are also scattered around the park, so if you don’t bring your own picnic, you still won’t go hungry.
All of the attractions of Coney Island make taking a trip there one of the most fun things to do in Brooklyn. Coney Island is famously home to an amusement park, but also to an aquarium, a beach and a museum. The New York Aquarium features over 300 species of marine birds, fish mammals and reptiles. Coney Island’s beach does get crowded, but a walk on its boardwalk always makes for a great time. Visiting the Coney Island Museum will shed light on the art and culture of the Coney Island community. Don’t forget, a trip to Coney Island isn’t complete without a ride on the Wonder Wheel.

The New York Islanders have also just moved to the Barclays Center. Their season opener is at home on October 9 against the Blackhawks. Coming off a season in which they had a winning record and made the playoffs, Islanders tickets will be a hot commodity, so get them while you can!
